The Finke Estate preserves, researches, and opens Dieter Finke's archive. It connects works, documents, and reconstruction notes so the practice can be read as a living field.
Built from torn, layered paper with every seam left exposed, Eagle Head returns to the raw construction method Finke used for his very first animal sculptures — a technique a fellow sculptor once called proof of mastery, an eagle raised from only a few sheets of paper. Structure and material stay one and the same: nothing here is smoothed into a finished skin. Decades into a practice that would go on to cast its guardians in bronze, this head preserves that same provisional logic in its rawest, unfired form.
